Help More Minnesotans Get the Healthy Food They Need
Ask your state representative and state senator to support Second Harvest Heartland’s one-time bonding request so that together, we can end hunger in Minnesota.
(The specific bill numbers are: House File 3495 and Senate File 3095.)
With just one phone call, one email, one post or tweet – your voice can help more Minnesotans get the healthy food they need.
We’re asking the State of Minnesota for a one-time $18 million investment in our new facility that will help us reach more hungry Minnesotans. Second Harvest Heartland’s current warehouse is at maximum capacity. This critical one-time funding will help us renovate a bigger and better facility that can handle the millions of pounds of fresh food we rescue and redistribute in partnership with more than 1,000 food shelves, partner food banks and meal programs that reach every county in the state.
With this funding, our new facility will help us generate 68 million more meals that will reach 375,000 more hungry Minnesotans.
State legislators in the House and Senate will likely vote on a bonding bill in the coming weeks. Letting them know the vital role that Second Harvest Heartland plays for the one in 10 hungry Minnesotans who need it is critical to our success.
Thank you for giving people a hand up. Together, we can end hunger.
(You should know that some senators and representatives will respond to your email by asking you to fill out a form. This is simply how they’ve chosen to handle emails.)
